Purus Research in India
The name Purus is rooted in ancient Indian Vedic literature, referring to the ‘Purus’ tribe, one of the original lineages within the ‘Bharatas’, after whom Bharat (India) is named. As the world’s most populous nation, democracy, and one of the fastest-growing large economies, India today serves as a principal frontier for durable peace, shared prosperity, and high-impact technological advancement. Purus Research is strategically positioned to participate in, and underpin, India’s evolving capabilities in sustainable systems, digital transitions, and next-generation industrial technologies, fostering an exchange of our capital with indigenous innovation.
Since initiating exposure to Indian equities in 2022, the founding team at Purus Research has methodically built a portfolio spanning small, mid, and large-cap companies across the full spectrum of Indian industry. Our investment philosophy was construed not merely by market signals, but by on-ground insight, historical consciousness, and a firm belief in India’s developmental restructuring. The country is undergoing a seismic transformation, from the deepening of formal finance and entrepreneurship to exponential digital penetration and supply-side reform, India today exhibits one of the most compelling macro-micro alignments globally.
We view India’s resilience amid global volatility, be it post-pandemic recovery, European fragmentation, or Middle Eastern disruptions, not as incidental, but as reflective of its institutional depth, demographic scale, and policy durability. Simultaneously, India is emerging as a testbed for frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, clean energy systems, and high-efficiency manufacturing, with national missions reinforcing global competitiveness.
At Purus, we adopt a thesis-driven approach, anchored in long-term conviction and domain-level precision. India is not only where the most scalable innovation meets the most scalable demand, but also where the tenacity of its people, the continuity of democratic institutions, and the velocity of enterprise together build a resilient platform for economic and technological leadership.
100% of Purus Research’s initial capital deployment has been committed to Indian opportunities in our first year of operations. Beginning in FY 2026–27, anchored in deep market intelligence, cross sectoral research, and macro–microeconomic discernment, Purus will initiate its Southeast Asia portfolio, selectively expanding its geographical footprint while preserving India as the anchor geography of global growth and a cornerstone of our portfolio across cycles. We remain steadfast in our intention to scale this both in nominal and proportional terms across our evolving capital stack. We believe that India will remain the anchor geography of global growth this decade, and a cornerstone of our portfolio across cycles.
